FijiFirst Leader and Former Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama

As Muslims in Fiji and around the world celebrate Eid, FijiFirst Leader Voreqe Bainimarama says this is a time of joy, reflection, and gratitude, as we mark the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the beginning of a new chapter.

Bainimarama says he knows that for the past 30 days, many of you have observed the fast, a time of spiritual renewal and self-discipline.

The former Prime Minister says he admires their dedication and commitment to their faith, and he is proud of the way in which the country embraces diversity and inclusivity, honoring the many different traditions and beliefs that make up our society.

He adds this inclusivity is especially important as we also acknowledge many celebrations like Diwali, Christmas and recently Easter, which all serve as a reminder of the cultural and spiritual richness that exists within our country.

Bainimarama also says as a leader of the nation, he knows that it is this rich tapestry that makes us strong and resilient.

He further says as we come together to mark the end of the fasting month, let us remember those who are less fortunate, and extend a helping hand to those in need adding let us demonstrate the true spirit of Ramadan by practicing kindness, compassion, and empathy towards one another.
