Minister for Economy Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says there were some positive things that came out in the Bureau of Statistics 2019-2020 Household Income and Expenditure Survey but some political parties are just obsessed with ethnicity.

Sayed-Khaiyum says the survey could have been put to good use and could have been looked at.

He says issues such as what percentage of children are eating just two meals in a day and what percentage of children go home by bus from school is just pushed to the side.

Sayed-Khaiyum says SODELPA members are still obsessed with it even though the survey is flawed.

SODELPA MP Mitieli Bulanauca says ethnicity is a fact of life and questioned if the Attorney General is saying that the statisticians at the Bureau of Statistics are wrong and only Sayed-Khaiyum is right.

Bulanauca says they believe in these people who are qualified and not the Attorney General.

In his response, Sayed-Khaiyum says they also have economists and people who work in the statistics office at the Ministry of Economy.

He says it is not just about him and the opposition is just obsessed with one person.
