Fiji Muslim League says there is a need to get children back to school and get back to some normalcy.

President, Hafizud Dean Khan says attendance has been very erratic and some of the schools have had very low attendance rates but that is the risk they are willing to take.

He says at times attendance rate has been over 70% and it has also dropped to nearly 40%.

Khan says attendance depends on a number of things including the weather condition.

The League President has reassured parents that they will be following all Standard Operating Procedures to keep their children safe in school.

When asked by fijivillage if the schools have enough space to accommodate students while keeping them 2 metres apart, Khan says this is manageable as the attendance rate is not 100% anyway.

He adds their normal assistance programs to assist families of children affected by COVID-19 will continue.
