There is a need to build 4,000 hotel rooms as quickly as possible - Gavoka

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Tourism, Viliame Gavoka says there is a need to build 4,000 hotel rooms as quickly as possible to cater to demands.

While speaking at the unveiling of the Sorena Naisoso project , Gavoka says with two A350 aircrafts that will arrive in July for Fiji Airways, the imbalance between the air inventory and the ground inventory will be quite profound.

Hence the need to quickly build the rooms.

Gavoka says a Cabinet committee including the Prime Minister and three Deputy Prime Ministers has been put together to fast track investments.

He says ease of doing business is always a challenge for Fiji and they will make sure the processes are simplified and investments take off as early as possible.

The Deputy Prime Minister adds there is a spring to our step in this country and he believes the lending institutions are loosening their purse string and supporting projects in the pipeline in Fiji.
