Solicitor General Sharvada Sharma

Solicitor General Sharvada Sharma says despite the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects, the legal profession must continue to work together to ensure that access to justice is not compromised and that the rule of law and international human rights standards are upheld during these unprecedented times.

In his opening remarks at the opening of the 22nd Attorney General’s Conference at Intercontinental Hotel, Sharma says this is why the conference topics focus on a wide range of emerging legal issues including those related to the pandemic.

Sharma says the speakers come from different backgrounds and represent a wide range of sectors including international and regional organisations, the corporate sector, the judiciary, the public sector and the private bar.

The Solicitor General says the international speakers will be joining them virtually.

He says with over 400 participants at this year’s conference they have taken a number of precautions in accordance with the COVID Safe guidelines.
