Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama has extended his condolences to his Indian counterpart, Narendra Modi, following the demise of former Indian President Pranab Mukherjee.
Bainimarama says Mukherjee was a friend to Fiji and his commitment to strengthening the bond of friendship between the two countries during his term in office is commendable and deeply appreciated.
He says India has lost a towering statesman whose devotion to public service spans over political generations.
Bainimarama says he will be remembered for his leadership in building political consensus and his care for the well-being of the people.
The Prime Minister has also sent his commiserations and prayers to the family of the late Mukherjee.
