RFMF Commander, Major General Jone Kalouniwai inspects the parade at FTG in Nasinu today

The Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces, Major General Jone Kalouniwai has reminded new RFMF recruits today that the foundation of the democracy that they stand for now is built on the principles of equality and justice for all.

While speaking at Queen Elizabeth Barracks during the pass-out parade, Major General Kalouniwai told the soldiers that their actions and decisions will always have a profound impact on the lives of those that are around them and it is up to them to ensure that justice is served and everyone is treated with respect and dignity.

He says democracy and the rule of law are the principles that underpin our society and the RFMF.

The Commander says it means respecting the rights of all people, upholding the law and defending the freedoms that make our country great.

He says the new recruits should continue to uphold the values and ethos of the RFMF.

The Army Commander congratulated the recruits for successfully completing the 12 weeks of basic recruitment training.

He says today marks a significant chapter in their lives as they transition from their former lives to professional soldiers of this noble institution.

Major General Kalouniwai says their values are courage which is the foundation of the RFMF as it takes courage to put one self in harm’s way, to face the unknown and to stand up for what is right.

He says dedication to duty means putting the needs of the country and fellow citizens before their own.
