Ilona Valette, the partner of the late Josaia Raisuqe, has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the love and support shown to her and her brother during their stay in Fiji.
This was shared by Valette when they visited Communications Fiji Limited today.
Valette shared her surprise at discovering just how famous Raisuqe was in Fiji, saying that in France, he was simply a humble, funny, and down-to-earth man.
She expressed how deeply moved she was by the warm welcome they received, from Nadi to Naitasiri and the heartfelt support and love shown by the people of Fiji—many of whom lined the roads to pay their final respects that left a lasting impression on her.
Valette says she will remain in Fiji until the completion of the 100-night mourning ritual before returning to France.
She says she is settling in well and has been adapting comfortably to life in the village.
Valette says experiencing Raisuqe’s village firsthand was a true honour, especially seeing the simplicity and beauty of rural life.
