Tebara Transport Limited CEO Arvind Maharaj has confirmed that the bus fire in Nausori was not linked to the e-ticketing machine as the bus did not have an e-ticketing machine installed.
He adds that Tebara Transport Limited is in the process of installing e-ticketing machines.
Maharaj says that the bus was taken to LTA yesterday for its annual certificate of fitness, after which the bus went on its evening trip and serviced its daily route this morning.
He says there was no issue with the bus runs last night and early this morning.
Maharaj reiterated that for Tebara Transport Limited, passenger safety is paramount.
He says that unfortunately around 11.30 this morning the bus caught fire and the driver quickly asked all the passengers to disembark the bus.
The National fire Authority is now investigating the cause of the bus fire.
The Tebara bus was on fire at the roundabout near the Nausori Health Centre.
Firefighters from the Nausori Fire Station managed to put out the fire however the bus is badly damaged.
