Ratu Latianara College Under-16 winning captain, Jennifer Vakataleqica, says that through teamwork and respect, they were able to come out victorious in the Weet-Bix Raluve competition final against Sigatoka Methodist High School.

Speaking to fijivillage Sports, Vakataleqica says that despite the lack of gym equipment at the school at the beginning of the season, it did not deter their focus on participating in the Raluve competition.

She also acknowledged the Vunivalu of Serua, Ratu Tevita Mara Latianara, for his support and for providing weights equipment to the school, which greatly boosted the team’s preparation.

Vakataleqica hopes that next year the players will perform even better and give their best to retain the trophy.

Head Coach, Ratu Seru Kuriyalavou says the win was the result of the commitment of students, parents, and teachers working together to ensure the players were able to deliver during the game.

Ratu Seru says they came in as underdogs, and defeating the defending champions is a very big achievement.

He adds that next year they hope the players will reach another level of performance that will continue to make the school and the Vanua proud.
