People of Balata College and Nadalei Village in Tavua are calling for assistance including health sector, sugar industry and infrastructure during the community engagement with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Finance, Professor Biman Prasad.

While responding to this Professor Prasad assured them that these issues remain key priorities for the Government.

He says they are listening and are committed to working with the people to address these issues because their voices matter in shaping the way forward for our nation.

The visit was an opportunity for Professor Prasad to listen to the concerns of the people, share details of government’s plans and have an open dialogue about the challenges faced by communities in the area.

He outlined measures announced in the National Budget and explained how Government policies are designed to bring real impact to people’s lives.

The Deputy Prime Minister says the Budget is not just about numbers, it is about creating opportunities, investing in essential services and ensuring that no Fijian is left behind.

He further says that face-to-face consultations with communities are essential to ensure government policies respond effectively to the needs of ordinary Fijians.

Professor Prasad adds that when they sit together it allows them to hear the challenges directly and find solutions together.
