Takayawa and 2 SODELPA Suva Constituency representatives charged with criminal intimidation

SODELPA General Secretary, Viliame Takayawa Junior and two SODELPA Suva Constituency representatives, Amoni Kepa and Apenisa Turaga are in custody after being charged with criminal intimidation.

Kepa, a 38-year-old tertiary student and Turaga, a 45-year-old Foreign Army Veteran were jointly charged for one count each of criminal intimidation.

Police say the two allegedly had threatened Takayawa on the 22nd of February, 2024 at their headquarters after a heated argument.

The investigation was conducted and the file was forwarded to Office of the DPP for an independent legal advice.

An advice was received from ODPP for both accused persons to be charged with one count of whereby an advice was rendered for both accused persons to be charged for one count of criminal intimidation.

Police say the two then reported against Takayawa.

He was charged with one count of criminal intimidation. It is alleged that on the 22nd of February, 2024 at 5pm, Kepa had confronted Takayawa on a few adminstrative issues where he started to be abusive and talked at the top of his voice.

They will appear in court tomorrow.
