SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya.

SODELPA MP Lynda Tabuya has questioned if reducing salaries of civil servants is a viable alternative rather than making some of them redundant so that all remain employed and share the burden together.

Tabuya says in the interest of cutting down expenditure, they must take an honest look at the type of sacrifices that are to be made.

She has asked whether civil servants would take a salary reduction rather than seeing their hundreds of colleagues made to go home.

Tabuya says while the Attorney General has attempted to cut costs in the National Budget by reducing leadership salaries by as much as 20 percent, she believes more wastage needs to be eliminated.

Tabuya says in this time of crisis when our people are fatigued and looking for solutions to very basic daily needs, they are not interested in their leaders shouting, swearing or fighting each other.

She says she has vowed to keep making suggestions until the government gets it right.
