In a bid to ensure that better education is provided for our children, Telecom Fiji Limited has stepped in to provide essential school supplies for 13-year-old Fulori Diraboki, as she transitions to secondary school education at Vunimono High School in Nausori this year.

Diraboki’s story of resilience and determination inspired the nation after overcoming significant challenges to excel academically and receiving the Year 8 Dux Award at Dravo District School while serving as the primary caregiver for her bedridden mother.

Direboki’s daily routine includes caring for her mother, Timaleti Droceva, who has been bedridden for five years due to a spinal condition.

Despite these responsibilities, she consistently excels in her studies, balancing household chores and caregiving with her education.

Her commitment and perseverance led to her being honoured at the Fiji Children’s Award ceremony, where she was recognized for her resilience and selflessness.

TFL says this initiative to support Diraboki’s education aligns with Telecom Fiji’s commitment to supporting education and empowering youth In Fiji.

Diraboki, who hails from Wainika Village, Tawake, in Cakaudrove, with maternal ties to Sawaieke, Gau, Lomaiviti, moved to Naila, Bau, Tailevu, to care for her mother while continuing her education at Dravo District School.

TFL says despite walking 30 minutes to school on days she misses the bus, Diraboki remained focused on her goal of academic excellence.

Diraboki says without her mother, she would not have achieved the Dux award or excelled in her studies.

She says her mother’s dedication to her education inspires her to persevere and she is grateful to God for her life and for the opportunities she had to succeed in.

TFL CEO Charles Goundar says Diraboki’s story exemplifies the strength and resilience of our young people and they are committed to supporting education and empowering future leaders.

He says by providing Diraboki with the tools she needs to succeed, they hope to inspire others to pursue their dreams despite challenges.

Diraboki expressed her heartfelt thanks to TFL for their support and said that this assistance will help her focus on my studies and continue striving for excellence.

She also acknowledges the company for believing in her and her dreams.
