System to develop into a tropical cyclone is very low to low - Met. Office

A Tropical Disturbance lies about 450km West Northwest of Yasawa-i-Rara and is moving Southeast at 10km/hr.

According to the Nadi Weather Office, TD01F is slow-moving and lies in a slow-sheared environment with moderate upper divergence.

The Weather Office says global models have picked up this system and it is slow-moving Southeast with slight intensification.

They say the potential for this system to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 24 to 48 hours is very low.

A Heavy Rain Warning remains in force for the Northern Division, the Western half and interior of Viti Levu, the Northern Lau Group, Yasawa and the Mamanuca Group.

A Flood Alert remains in force for flood-prone areas adjacent to and downstream of all major rivers in the country.

A Flash Flood Warning remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams of the Northern Division.

A Flash Flood Alert remains in force for all low-lying, flash flood-prone areas and small streams of Viti Levu.

The Weather Office says an active trough of low pressure with associated clouds and rain remains slow-moving over the northeastern parts of Fiji.

They say the associated cloud and rain are anticipated to affect the group until later tomorrow.
