Suva defeated Tailevu 27-25 in a nail-biting thriller last night in the Skipper Cup competition.

Tailevu got off to a good start through a penalty from Seru Vaniqi but minutes later Suva responded through a penalty from Enele Malele to equalise the points to 3 points all.

Tailevu kept the pressure on Suva but Suva's defence stood like a brick wall.

Tailevu committed a lot of mistakes where Suva took advantage and that resulted in a penalty try to Suva to put them to a 10-3 lead.

Suva led Tailevu 10-6 at the break.

Tailevu came out firing in the second half with a try and a penalty to put them to a 18-10 lead.

Suva rallied back with a converted penalty and two tries that resulted in a 27-18 lead to Suva.

Timoce Vunimoku's try for Tailevu closed the gap to 2 points but Suva's defence stood tall.

Meanwhile, Namosi will face Yasawa in the Farebrother Sullivan Trophy Challenge and Skipper Cup match at 3pm today at the ANZ Stadium.

In the Skipper Cup matches, Nadi will meet Lautoka at 3pm at Prince Charles Park and Nadroga will face Naitasiri at 3pm today at Ratu Cakobau Park.
