The latest state of the art Biochemistry machine from Roche Diagnostics called the Cobas 6000

Its good news as the Suva Private Hospital has invested significantly in the latest state of the art Biochemistry machine from Roche Diagnostics called the Cobas 6000.

The machine is the first system in Fiji which was commissioned yesterday.

This is the new addition that will enhance Laboratory Diagnostics and consequently impact clinical outcomes and can process 500 tests per hour.

Hospital General Manager, David Qumivutia said this Biochemistry equipment will further enhance the pathology capabilities at the Private Hospital and bring about more concise analysis.

He added that the Cobas 6000 is gaining popularity throughout New Zealand and Australia.

He further said that depending on the sickness patients will have to pay for the tests.

Qumivutia said the Board has big plans towards upgrading services at Suva Private Hospital in the short to medium term which will be complimentary to the current Health service provisions of Fiji.

Meanwhile, two lab technicians from the hospital were trained for a week in New Zealand on how to operate this machine.
