Suva Grammar School students celebrate Diwali

After many years, Suva Grammar School students today celebrated Diwali, and they were reminded that Diwali signifies the victory of light over darkness and good over evil.

It was highlighted by Grammarian and Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager for Energy Fiji Limited, Karunesh Rao that Diwali is the time when families come together to celebrate and exchange gifts with the bursting of fireworks, illuminating the night skies, and creating a spectacle that is nothing short of magical.

Rao says Diwali has its roots in specific spiritual, religious and cultural traditions and its universal appeal lies in its themes of light, unity, renewal, family, charity, culture, and spirituality, which resonate with people of various backgrounds and beliefs.

He says Diwali holds a special place in the hearts of millions, not only in India but also among the Indian diaspora around the world and is spread across the globe.

He further says it serves as a reminder of the shared values that connect us all, as humans, irrespective of our faith, or cultural background.

Rao reminded the students that during this occasion, we need to light up the lamp of love within our hearts, love for ourselves, by caring for our spiritual and physical well-being, love for family and community, and rekindle the family bond and unity, and love for the environment
