Surgeons attending the 2-day National Surgeons Conference at Tanoa Plaza in Suva have been urged by the Minister for Health, Dr Ifereimi Waqainabete to come out of operating theatres and collaborate more with communities.

He says it is about time surgeons make an effort to prevent disability rather than wait at the operating tables to churn out the number of operations they have done.

Dr Waqainabete adds the recent World Health Organisation Report on Disability released in November last year stated that over 1 billion people live with some form of disability, and this accounts for about 15% of the global population.
