The Fiji Roads Authority says they are temporarily patching potholes and not doing major repair works because there are supply issues of bitumen which is used for road surfacing and roofing.

A number of motorists have raised concerns about the poor condition of roads in Suva.

FRA’s Acting CEO Kamal Prasad says they expect to get the supply this Sunday and then road works will commence.

Prasad says pothole repairs are temporary and they are currently progressing with their Pothole Reduction Programme in which they have identified a number of roads in the greater Suva area that is in need of repair.

He adds they have recently completed road works on sections of Pratt Street, Selbourne Street, Hercules Street, Holland Street, Amy Street, Ono Street, and some sections of Queens Road at Namuka-i-Lau and Veisari, Fulaga Street, Nasevou Street in Lami, Nayau Street, Gordon Street, Komo Street, Milverton Road, Argo Street, and Waimanu Road.

Motorists who use Nokonoko Road in Laucala Beach and Kanace Road in Valelevu have also raised concerns about the poor condition of the roads.

Prasad says they plan to carry out works on several other roads in the Central Division which includes Nokonoko and Kanace Road.
