Minister for Sugar Charan Jeath Singh has discussed modernising the industry through the introduction of drones and farm machinery and strengthening sugar research through assistance in mobile soil testing laboratories with the newly appointed Indian High Commissioner to Fiji Suneet Mehta.

Singh provided an overview of Fiji’s sugar industry, outlining the government’s initiatives and plans for modernisation.

The Minister also discussed potential areas of collaboration between the two nations in fostering multi-ethnic affairs.

He says the discussion also centred on the digitalisation of Girmit Records and the Construction of the Girmit Museum at the Girmit Centre in Lautoka.

The Indian High Commissioner to Fiji has expressed the Indian government's commitment to addressing challenges within Fiji’s sugar industry and strengthening partnerships in multi-ethnic affairs.
