Minister for Infrastructure and Lands, Jone Usamate.

Minister for Lands and Infrastructure, Jone Usamate says subsidised water initiative continues which is benefitting more than 150,000 households despite budget restrictions and aging infrastructure that they are beginning to replace.

He also told parliament that Water Authority of Fiji has not disconnected water meters of domestic accounts despite budget reductions.

Usamate says they had a burst main in Nakasi this week causing loss of water pressure which was followed by a 30 year old valve giving up.

He says they did not carry out repairs last night as it would have left a large part of Nasinu without water.

Usamate also attacked National Federation Party Leader, Professor Biman Prasad who said we have a zero ideas government.

Usamate adds he was taken aback with the comments made by SODELPA MP, Mitieli Bulanauca who had said that COVID—19 was invented by a group of rich people around the world who are acting as God and creating chaos.

Usamate has classified Bulanauca’s comments as utter nonsense.
