Students of Vuci Methodist School to have a new classroom block

Students of Vuci Methodist School in Nausori will soon have a new 1 x 7 classroom block after a fire destroyed 4 classrooms, a newly built computer lab and a school library in February 2019.

Minister for Education, Premila Kumar says the Government has set aside $746,000 for the classroom block for Vuci Methodist School, which is expected to be ready in 30 weeks.

She says after the completion, the students and teachers of Vuci Methodist School will enjoy a much better learning and teaching facility.

The Minister adds that it marks the beginning of a renewed hope for the children of the school.

She says she understands that the school suffered a great loss when a fire destroyed the wooden classroom in 2019.

The Minister says the school converted its staff room to accommodate affected year 7 students.

The school was established in 1920 and the Minister says she understands that some of the buildings are extremely old.

She adds that the school was established by the Indian Methodist Missionaries and has provided education to thousands of children.
