The stop-work order that was issued for WG Friendship Plaza along Suva's McGregor Road has been lifted and work to complete the project is now continuing on the site.

A spokesperson for the company has confirmed that the two balconies that were encroaching into Holy Trinity School land have been trimmed.

The retaining wall that was also encroaching was removed months ago.

Workers have started to install the glass walls and glass railings.

WG Friendship Plaza is a 28 storey luxury hotel and convention centre.

It is expected to have an inventory of over 300 rooms, observatory tower, boutique shopping, healthcare and entertainment complexes.

Construction on the project started in 2016.

The project is estimated to cost hundreds of millions of dollars.

Engineered Designs which is the structural engineering company assigned to adapt the design of the WG Friendship Plaza to local conditions says the building is structurally compliant.

A peer review was carried out by an independent consultant and that review was accepted by the Suva City Council.
