NRL clubs have officially been told put all contract talks on hold as the coronavirus pandemic causes chaos for the game’s financial viability.

It means that a number of the league’s biggest stars and rising young talent face an uncertain future, not knowing where they will be next year or even if they will still be in the NRL.

Certain clubs will also have more bargaining power than others, with some better financially positioned to cope with the coronavirus, meaning they will be able to offer more than their opposition.

The Newcastle Knights seem confident enough in their situation to have secured star forward Tyson Frizell with a $2.1 million contract .

It all equates an interesting year ahead with some of the code’s biggest names up for grabs.
