Speaker emotional as Parliament passes Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill 2023

Speaker of Parliament Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu was emotional today before Parliament passed the Electoral Registration of Voters Amendment Bill 2023.

Before the vote was taken, Ratu Naiqama who was in tears says he is emotional because of the experience they had gone through.

He says some members suffered under the consequences of the different interpretation and application of the rules that were brought in.

The Speaker adds that it affected him when Niko Nawaikula’s name was mentioned.

Ratu Naiqama also acknowledged those sitting in Parliament that had gone through these challenges.
