Minister for Education Premila Kumar

The behavior of some teachers has come under the spotlight as the Minister for Education Premila Kumar has revealed that some teachers who live in school quarters drink grog all night and disappear during the day.

She made the comments at the closing of the Fiji Principals Association conference.

Kumar says this is a reality and it will not be tolerated.

She says they are assigning each school with a divisional or a district officer so they can take charge of that school.

Kumar says these officers will be a conduit between the schools and the Ministry and if anything happens in the schools, the officers should be able to assist and solve the problem.

The Minister has also told the Principals that they cannot ignore unhygienic wash facilities, overgrown grasses and unattended gardens.
