The Consumer Council of Fiji is urging consumers to check the quality of meat products and the hygiene of its storage before purchasing meat or frozen fruits and vegetables.
A survey was carried out by the Consumer Council of Fiji in 22 supermarkets whereby it was found that rotten fruits and vegetables including stale meat was being sold.
CEO of Consumer Council of Fiji Seema Shandil says they are more focused on supermarkets which sell over thawed meat and rotten fruits and vegetables.

She says actions will be taken against them in order to improve their quality standards.
Shandil is urging consumers to exercise their responsibilities and carefully inspect meat products before buying.
