Bench warrant and production order issued after Mead Road meth accused fail to appear in court

The two men who were allegedly found with methamphetamine and cash, and who were resisting arrest at Mead Road Housing in January last year, failed to appear in the Suva Magistrates Court this morning.

A production order has been issued for Mikaele Kolikenakorotubu, as he is in remand, while a bench warrant has been issued for Laisiasa Bavai, who is currently on bail.

Bavai is charged with resisting arrest and obstruction, while Kolikenakorotubu is charged with alleged possession of methamphetamine.

It is alleged that three zip-lock bags containing crystal substances believed to be methamphetamine and $5,560 in cash were found during a raid.

Their video of resisting arrest and allegedly throwing a bag containing the substances and cash had gone viral.

The matter has been adjourned to March 4th.
