Social media post of kids being kidnapped and organs removed is false - COMPOL

Social media posts being widely circulated claiming children are being kidnapped and their organs removed are false.

Commissioner of Police, Rusiate Tudravu says there is no such thing happening in Fiji, and Police have not received any reports related to it.

He is urging members of the public to stop spreading such false information, saying it only creates unnecessary anxiety in the community.

Tudravu is calling on people to be more sensitive and considerate, and to think about how their comments may affect others instead of spreading false information about things that are not happening in Fiji.

When asked if Police can take action against those creating and spreading such rumours online, Tudravu said it depends on the situation and how they assess the information being circulated.

He adds that Police have the power to act if the matter becomes one of national interest.
