Small businesses are the main financial support for people living in villages and if the Yatu Lau Company bring their business to the village, it will reduce the earnings for those businesses already setup in the villages.

This was highlighted by the Tikina of Lakeba representative Uwate Soko, in response to the Deputy Chairman of Yatu Lau Company Limited Isikeli Mokunitulevu, who suggested that they should bring new businesses to the island.

Soko says if Yatu Lau company are planning to bring business back to the village for the growth of the company, he questioned them as to what about those living in the island and earning a living through small businesses, as this will affect them badly.

He says small business contribute a lot in providing assistance during emergency.

Yatu Lau Company Limited Deputy Chairman Viliame Leqa says the company is doing property investments, and they are planning to further their business and move it back to the Lau Islands.

Mokunitulevu says with this planning they can build retail stores and supermarkets on the island.

Yatu Lau Company Limited will also be holding their AGM this Friday at Studio 6.
