Minister for Sugar and Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan-Jeath Singh and Opposition MP Parveen Bala

Minister for Sugar and Multi-Ethnic Affairs Charan-Jeath Singh and Opposition MP Parveen Bala have sought forgiveness in Parliament this morning for using unparliamentary language that may have hurt any individual or MPs.

There was a war of words in Parliament this week, where Singh called Bala a murderer, and Bala responded that he could also call Singh a “choro” (thief).

Speaker Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu urged all MPs to uphold the dignity of the Parliament.

He says Singh is seeking a personal explanation for something he stated, which he didn’t hear clearly because Singh mumbles his words most of the time when he gets angry.

Ratu Naiqama also told Singh that he seems to have taken off at a very speedy pace when he blows up the Opposition.

He says maybe Singh has been counting his money a lot.

The Speaker also acknowledges both MPs for taking it upon themselves to ask for forgiveness in Parliament.
