The Fiji Airways Fijiana side were thrashed 27-0 by China in their 5th place semi final at the HSBC Singapore 7s.

They will now play for 7th place against Great Britain at 8.12 tonight.

They looked a different team from the one that played yesterday with a lot of individual play, running away from support to eventually get isolated and then getting penalised for not releasing the ball.

China used their speedsters out-wide to blitz the Fijiana defence.

China who have been constantly improving over the last few years ran in five tries with speedster Can Chen getting a hat trick.

China led 15-0 at half time.

In their pool games, the Fijiana thumped Ireland 26-12 before losing to France 24-19.

In other matches, Span beat the USA 15-5, Ireland defeated Brazil 26-10, while Japan beat Great Britain 21-12.

In the cup semi final Australia will meet Canada at 5.45pm, before New Zealand plays France at 6.07 tonight.

The cup final is at 11.05 tonight.
