The Fiji Airways National Men’s 7s team will not be in contention for the HSBC Singapore 7s title after losing to Great Britain 19-14 in the second pool match.

Indiscipline and decision-making cost the Fiji Men’s 7s team the game as two of their players were sin-binned in the first half.

Great Britain started on a high note, scoring two tries to give them a 12-0 lead at halftime.

Fiji’s first try came in the second half through Josefa Talacolo to close the gap to a 12-7 game.

However, Great Britain did not waver as they went on attack again, and Tom Emery crossed over the try line to put them to a 19-7 lead.

Fiji rallied back, and Iowane Teba gave them some hope as he scored a try with only a few seconds left in the second half.

Great Britain’s defence stood tall in the final seconds as Fiji tried their best to cross over the try line.

Meanwhile, Fiji lost to the USA 33-14 in their first pool match.

In other results, South Africa thumped Spain 31-7, France beat Samoa 17-0, Australia defeated Argentina 26-19, and New Zealand edged Canada 22-17.

Fiji will now face Ireland at 5.37pm today in their final pool match. The Cup quarter-finals will start at 11pm tonight, the semi-finals will start at 5.48pm tomorrow, and the final will kick off at 10.21pm tomorrow.

The Fijiana 7s last pool match is against Australia at 4.50pm today.

The Women’s quarter-finals will start at 8.27pm today, the semi-finals will begin at 5.02pm tomorrow, and the final will be held at 9.41pm today.
