Sigatoka Methodist College students no longer fear flooding with new school facility

The students of Sigatoka Methodist College can now look forward to enjoying the safe, secure education they deserve without having to worry about rising water levels when it rains.

This comes after the commissioning of the new Sigatoka Methodist College facility.

While officially commissioning the new facility, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama expressed how good it is to see students back in their classrooms after the length of time spent learning from home due to COVID-19.

Bainimarama also reminded students of the importance of their education.

The Prime Minister also commended staff and teachers for their efforts in keeping students learning despite the longest shutdown of the education sector in our country’s history.

Bainimarama highlighted that the $2.1m new Kulukulu wing is part of the efforts to relocate the school due to its vulnerability to flooding and lack of room for expansion.

Sigatoka Methodist College is now equipped with an Industrial Arts Workshop; a Computer Lab; a Science Lab and a Home Economics Lab and more classrooms are also in the pipeline.

The Prime Minister says these world-class facilities will enable every student to grow to their fullest potential; preparing them to be valuable Fijian and global citizens.
