Serious concerns on increase in the number of aggravated robberies in past months

Serious concerns continue to be raised about the safety and security of the people due to the number of aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary cases.

According to the monthly statistics provided by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions, there were 11 aggravated robbery and 11 aggravated burglary cases in May, with 16 theft cases

There were 5 aggravated robberies, 5 aggravated burglary cases and 7 theft cases in June, while in July, there were 7 aggravated robberies, 11 aggravated burglary cases with 19 theft cases.

The number of people arrested for aggravated robbery in the last three months increased, with 2 charged in May, 5 in June and 12 in July.

For aggravated burglary cases, 25 people were charged in May, 10 in June, and 15 in July.

Meanwhile, 27 were charged with theft in May, 11 in June and 16 in July.

Last week, there were 3 aggravated robberies in the west. One case occurred in Nadi where three men stormed into Total Energies Service Station on Thursday morning. According to Police, the same crew allegedly robbed a mini-mart in Martintar, Nadi and a house in Ba. No one has been arrested for these cases.
