Sevens legend Waisale Serevi is calling on the people of Fiji to turn up in numbers tomorrow for the FIJI Water Flying Fijians' first Pacific Nations Cup match against Tonga, as they will need our support.
Serevi reflected on his own experience playing against Tonga for the first time in 1987, recalling how tough and physical the Tongan players were.
He says it was one of the hardest matches of his career.
He also shared that his then-coach, the late Josateki Savou Senior, once joked during training that because of his small size, he should avoid tackling the massive Tongan forwards.
Serevi says those brutal encounters shaped him as a player, and he knows Fiji will need the fans behind them when they take the field.
Fiji plays Tonga at 3pm tommorow at the HFC Bank Stadium for round 2 of the Asahi Super Dry Pacific Nations Cup.
