Rugby 7s legend Waisale Serevi says he always loves to give back to rugby by assisting the development of Tier 2 nations.

Serevi is currently assisting the Jamaican Men’s 7s team in the HSBC Vancouver 7s.

He says if chosen to be part of the Jamaican Rugby 7s team, he will take it with open arms.

He adds the Jamaican team has the talent and the qualities to compete against other big 7s teams, but they will need the support of a good coach and training.

The Jamaican 7s team lost all their pool matches this morning, beaten 24-5 by Great Britain, 50 points to nothing against Ireland and 60 points to nothing against Hong Kong.

In other results, Ireland beat Hong Kong 17-14, Kenya defeated Spain 17-5, South Africa thrashed Mexico 53-0, Canada beat Germany 24-5, the USA defeated Chile 33-7, Kenya thrashed Mexico 45-7, South Africa beat Spain 34-7 and the US beat Germany 26-7. Fiji, Australia, New Zealand, Argentina, Japan and Samoa are not in this competition due to the challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic.
