Semi Naisevunivai, who is accused of killing Afroz Khan last year in Tailevu, will have his bail hearing on the 1st of August.

State Counsel Joshua Singh informed High Court Judge Justice Pita Bulamainaivalu that the bail application for Naisevunivai was due on the 11th of July but application was not submitted.

Singh says they are objecting to bail.

He also told the court that they have received the final DNA report this morning and will be filing a DNA bundle containing all relevant documents.

Singh adds that the CCTV footage and post-mortem photo booklet have been disclosed to the defence.

Naisevunivai’s lawyer told the court that they are waiting for the English translation of the iTaukei caution interview before submitting the supplementary affidavit.

Justice Bulamainaivalu says this is causing delays.

Meanwhile, Edward Nand and Viliame Vulawalu’s lawyer, Alanieta Bilivalu has served the Voir Dire grounds.

Khan was allegedly murdered between November 27th and December 12th last year.

It is alleged that Khan was struck multiple times with a wheel spanner before being thrown into the Waisere River in Tailevu.
