Suva Grammar School’s netball team has sacrificed their time to attend training sessions every afternoon in preparation for the Crest Fiji Secondary Schools Netball Championship competition.

Suva Grammar School U19 Manager, Melanie Mataitini, says the school offers many activities for students, and most of their netball players participate in the cadet program.

She says after school, they go straight to netball training.

Mataitini says students are only allowed to attend training at the court if they perform well in the classroom.

She says this approach helps mould the students to be responsible by managing their time effectively.

Mataitini says their aim this year is to defend their titles from U14 to U19.

The U19 manager says the girls are now preparing themselves for the three-day competition, where they expect tough competition from other schools across Fiji.

A total of 132 teams will participate in the Fiji Secondary Schools Championship from Wednesday to Friday at the National Netball Centre and the LICI court in Suva.
