Search continues for 8-year-old child swept away while playing in flooded drain

Valelevu Police are currently searching for an 8 year old child who was swept away while playing in a flooded drain this afternoon.

Police say the alleged incident occurred after 4pm along Niubalavu Road, Tacirua, New Subdivision

The 8-year-old child was allegedly playing in a flooded drain when he was swept away.

The search continues.

Chief Operations Officer Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu is warning parents and guardians to monitor their children and keep them from playing and swimming in flooded areas, creeks, rivers and drains.

A/ACP Driu adds Police will not hesitate to charge parents and guardians if they have neglected their duty in ensuring the safety of their children.
