A search and rescue effort has been activated for a missing fisherman in the Qarani Waters in Gau.
Police say the man from the Levuka-I-Gau Village went fishing alone on a fibreglass boat yesterday morning.
They say when he failed to return last night, search efforts were conducted by the villagers.
It was then reported to Police early this morning.
Police say the Fiji Maritime Surveillance Rescue Coordination Centre has been informed.
They are urging mariners and those living near Qarani Waters to call the National Police Command and Coordination Centre on 9905-296 or 917 if they have any information.
