Schools in the Lau Group, Lomaiviti, and Vanua Levu will be closed today as TC Rae approaches.

The Minister for Education Aseri Radrodro says for schools in other divisions itup to the parents discretion

in light of the strong winds, heavy rain, and potential disruption due to Tropical Depression 09F, in consultation with the National Disaster Risk Management Office, advises that all schools in the Lau Group, Lomaiviti, and Vanua Levu to be closed tomorrow for the safety of students and staff.

A Southeast wind flow currently prevails over Fiji.

Radrodro says TD09F is located about 350km northeast of Cikobia or 440km north-northeast of Vanuabalavu as of 3am today and is expected to gradually intensify as it tracks south towards Fiji.

He says it is forecasted to enter Fiji waters later today.

Radrodro says all parents and guardians to take proactive measures to ensure that the safety of their children is paramount during this period of adverse weather conditions.

He says all schools outside the Lau Group, Lomaiviti, and Vanua Levu will remain open tomorrow, and parental discretion must be exercised at all times.
