FijiFirst Party member and Former A-G Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum.

FijiFirst Party member Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum has filed a complaint with the CID alleging incitement regarding a social media post by Semi Tukana

While speaking during a press conference at the party headquarters, Sayed-Khaiyum says he filed a complaint today as it is targeting Muslims and spreading Islamophobia.

He says this complaint has not been lodged because it only targets Muslims and alleges the post has maliciously fabricated and published false information in relation to the Fijian Constitution and against Muslims.

The former Attorney General says this false information can create public harm, foster anxiety, and disaffection, and result in the detriment to the people.

Sayed-Khaiyum alleges the statement incites dislike or hatred of Fijian-Mislims, promotes feelings of animosity or ill-will between different communities, incites ethnic or communal hatred and is intimidating or threatening a religion, ethnicity or community other than his own.

He alleges it is likely to arouse fear, alarm and a sense of insecurity amongst Muslims.

Police have confirmed receiving the complaint and an investigation has begun.
