It will be a day that the Minister for Youth and Sports Jese Saukuru will never forget as he took the initiative of visiting children who are admitted at the Children's Ward at the Lautoka Hospital, inmates at Natabua and Namosau Correction Centres and the 37 residents of Golden Age Home in Lautoka on his birthday.

This was after the Minister was surprised by the National Youth Brass Band at his residence in Naviyago village in Lautoka with a soulful rendition of Happy Birthday which brought him to tears.

The Minister expressed his overwhelming gratitude and admitted that he never dreamt that the National Youth Brass Band and the Ministry would come to his village to wish him a happy birthday.

The Minister and his team planned a 30-minute show at both Namosau and Natabua Prisons and provided an opportunity for inmates to celebrate Christmas traditionally.

He says this initiative is expected to have a positive impact on their well-being and provide them with a sense of belonging during the festive season.
