18-year-old Sisa Saukawa from Wainika, Cakaudrove, Vanua Levu has faced numerous challenges growing up in a remote village, yet his determination and hard work have earned him the prestigious Dux Award at Nadogo Central College.

In an interview with fijivillage News, Saukawa says he is happy and proud of the accomplishment, crediting his faith for guiding him through this journey.

Saukawa says he was a boarding student at the school and is staying in a village without electricity.

He says despite these hardships, he used his time wisely by using every opportunity to study, listening to his teachers and following the guidance of his parents.

He credits his success to self-belief, his parents and his trust in God.

Saukawas message to other students facing similar struggles is to believe in them, set goals and work hard to achieve them.

He urges other students that no matter how tough things get, they should never give up.

When questioned about his future plans, Sisa says he plans to attend the University of the South Pacific next year to pursue a Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Finance.

He says he believes this will help him achieve his career goals and make a positive impact on his community.
