Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem.

The Registrar of Political Parties Mohammed Saneem has refuted reports that he has told the General Secretary of SODELPA to ban three members from attending their board meeting today.

This is regarding a Fiji Sun article where Ratu Tevita Komisavai is saying the General Secretary, Emele Duituturaga has told him that the Registrar of Political Parties has advised them to disallow Ratu Tevita and two others from attending the meeting.

In a statement, Saneem says he holds an independent office and does not engage in the internal affairs of the political parties.

Saneem says the role of the Registrar is to maintain the regulatory compliance of political parties with the law and take action to ensure that laws are upheld when there is a lack of compliance.

He says at no occasion did he provide direct advice in the management of political parties and any such claim or allegation is incorrect.

Saneem is urging all political party representatives to understand the office of the Registrar’s role in terms of the management of the Political Parties Act and the regulatory compliance of political parties.

We are currently trying to speak to Emele Duituturaga.
