Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem.

Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem has questioned what is the People’s Alliance and Lynda Tabuya trying to prove as the whole country knows and understands that they are not having any registrations done in schools.

He says the desperation is now getting to a state where more preposterous statements are coming out.

Tabuya had claimed that she has evidence that a member of the public enquired and was told by FEO officials that she could change her voter ID card at Saint Thomas High School.

She also claimed that the woman filled out the form and had to leave though due to an emergency.

Saneem also questioned why there is a rush with the media to publish because somebody said something.

He said there is a level of expectation that the formal media will do some level of verification before they publish.

The Supervisor of Elections also said he was concerned that Fiji TV ran Tabuya’s entire statement without any reference to earlier comments by the Fijian Elections Office and that continued the misinformation.

Saneem says he was looking at the questions they were getting from The Fiji Times and fijivillage and he was wondering whether the people making the statements were getting the same level of questions.

Communications Fiji Limited stations, Legend FM, FM96, Viti FM, Navtarang and Radio Sargam and website, fijivillage stress that we are not in the business of personalizing and politicizing issues.

We always stand for balance, fairness and accuracy.
