As the Hindus will be celebrating the birth of Lord Ram today, Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji is encouraging everyone to embrace the timeless teachings of Lord Ram and incorporate them into their lives.

The Sabha also urges people to strive to uphold righteousness, cultivate compassion, and promote harmony and unity in our communities.

In consideration of the celebration today, the Suva City Council has also approved the dispersal of flowers.

However, in adherence to environmental preservation and civic responsibility, the council is requesting the devotees to refrain from dispersing plastics, papers, or any non-biodegradable materials.

They say their collective mindfulness of the environment is paramount and aim to ensure that this celebration does not contribute to littering or environmental degradation.

They also urge all participants to take proper precautions while at the seaside, especially parents who are requested to supervise their children closely in the water.

The Ministry of Education had earlier stated that all Sanatan Schools will also be closed for Ram Navami celebrations today.

Ram Navami is an occasion to honor and celebrate the birth of Lord Ram, who is considered an incarnation of the divine and is a time for prayer, reflection, and spiritual renewal where devotees, fast for 9 days, recite the holy book of Ramayan, visit temples, pray, sing Kirtans, distribute Prasad, do community service and celebrate the Lord Ram’s Birth on the last day.
