President of the Shree Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji, Sarju Prasad says this year Diwali is celebrated at a very uncertain time and to remember the less fortunate, they are distributing food and sweets to people in need all over the country.

Prasad says they have been carrying out this initiative in the past two weeks and it will continue next week.

All branches of the Sanatan Dharm have contributed towards this initiative which has costed them more than $15,000.

In his Diwali message, Prasad says Diwali is a very important festival in the Sanatan calendar which brings a lot of happiness, brightness, light and life in people.

He is urging people to remember their neighbours, families and friends who have felt the full brunt of COVID-19 by losing their jobs and are unable to put food on their table and help them in any way possible.

Prasad says as we celebrate this festival, he wants to urge all Hindus to eliminate the hatred they have against anyone and love one another again.

He has wished all Fijians a very Happy Diwali on behalf of the Sanatan Dharm Pratinidhi Sabha of Fiji.
